Trying my best to keep it short and sweet...
After moving from the overflow parking area into our new site, we loaded into the truck and headed to Arches National Park. We stopped at the Visitor Center to acquaint ourselves with things to see and do and reserved our spots for the ranger led hike through the Fiery Furnace (a hike we wanted to do based on this description and related video: http://www.nps.gov/arch/planyourvisit/programs.htm). More on that later.
We drove through the park and did all the mandatory overlooks, pullouts, and a couple shorter hikes ranging from 1 to 3 miles each.
These two hikes were relatively short but a lot of fun...
It was a cool place to play around awhile...
and...
Naturally, the Boys had to stay in the truck, but the weather was cool (about 65 degrees) with a nice breeze, so they were kept comfortable on their mattress and pillows. :)
After spending the day in the park, we headed into Moab to see what there was to see. We popped into City Market (the local grocery store) and I bought a pile of cold medicine stuff (I've been sick since my birthday hike). We got gas, grabbed a hot chocolate (it's chilly at night), and headed back to our campsite.
Not a physically challenging day, but fun nonetheless. :)
