October 7...En Route to Moab, Utah

(Kim's Perspective)

We woke up bright and early, loaded the trailer and left the campground by 7:40. The RV service shop was about 25 minutes away, but we were delayed by this guy who was stopped on the tracks for a ridiculously long time.

We arrived around 8:30, gave our keys to the tech and then went inside (where the Boys were welcomed by several attentive sales guys) to sit in the waiting room. The tech came out and asked Bill to come back to the service area (uh-oh) so I contented myself with flipping through some of the new travel trailer brochures.

Bill came back and informed me that the install would be another hour and a half since they would have to drill new holes and rerun the wiring that was tacked to the side of the frame. Great. What do you do when you're stuck at an RV dealer for almost 2 hours? You check out all the trailers on the lot. It was actually a great deal of fun (minus the fact that we had the Boys with us and had to take turns getting in to the trailers). Having been on the road for quite some time, we now have a better idea of what floorplans work and what floorplans don't. Truthfully, our floorplan has been great for this trip, but there are some things we'd like to have different if we could. But we can't so we won't. ;)

We were back on the road by 11 am and on our way to

where CLEARLY our next adventure would begin. :)

It still kind of boggles us how quickly the landscape changes out here.

It makes for an entertaining drive. If you ever have an opportunity to travel the country via car, motorcycle, RV, whatever - DO IT! No matter how many places you've flown to, there's just nothing like seeing the country from the road.

We got to Moab around 5pm or so and were surprised that we were unable to secure a campsite. Fortunately, Big Bend campground had "overflow" parking, so we (along with several others) secured a spot in the parking area and set up for the night. Not a shabby spot for 5 bucks...

We had no complaints - the camp host was friendly and told us we'd likely be able to grab a spot in the morning if we confirmed with a current occupant that they were indeed vacating. We did just that and "reserved" (aka stalked and snaked) our spot for the next day. We enjoyed the sunset,

made a quick dinner, walked the Boys, watched our show and then headed to bed.
