We had to say goodbye to Stanley today, but not before we had breakfast at the Cafe, did one last laundry run, filled up our tanks and water containers with Precious Stanley Water (it's likely some of the best tasting water on earth), and grabbed ourselves a blackberry milkshake (for me) and some pistachio almond ice cream (for Bill) to go.
I was sad to leave...but I have a pretty strong inkling that we'll be back. :)
It was interesting to see how the landscape had changed from when we were here in July/August. The drive across Galena Pass was really pretty with the groves of aspens intermingled with the evergreens.
The trees and bushes leading into Ketchum were quite eye catching as well.
Cows always entertain...
Once off the scenic drive (75) from Stanley to Twin Falls, the rest of the day consisted of motoring along interstates 84 and 15 and listening to a bunch of sermons by Pastor Chappell. We hit a little weather, but nothing major.
In fact, the drive was uneventful...right up until we pulled into the Willard Bay Campground in Ogden (just north of SLC). While we were winding through the campground to select a site, we heard a thwack noise and hard parts dragging on the ground. Not good. One of our sway control cams had broken in half. Really not good.
On the bright side, we had made it safely to a campground and the cam broke while traveling at 10 mph rather than the 75 mph that we had sustained for the majority of the day. Thank you, God. He took care of us yet again.
It was too late to do anything about it, so we set up, walked the dogs, made dinner and did some research on local RV repair shops and dealers in the Ogden, Brigham City, and Salt Lake City area. We had planned on having the oil in the truck changed while we were in/near SLC, so we looked up a few dealerships on the internet, made plans to make a few phone calls in the morning and headed to bed.
