October 6...Willard Bay Campground (Day 2)

Today was packed full of productive tasks. Everything fell in line and went smoothly...well, almost everything.

Our day started with a visit from the Partridge Family... heee heee heee


After a few minutes chuckling at these quirky birds, we called a local Dodge dealership to inquire on the oil change and were told that we could bring the truck in anytime.

We decided to get that taken care of first since we were already a couple thousand miles overdue since our last oil change in Spokane. Wow. We've driven A LOT on this trip.

We took the Boys with us, dropped the truck off, walked across the street to Horsley Park,


played on the jungle gym with the Boys,


and then made some phone calls to the RV dealers in the area to see if anyone had a cam in stock. After 4 or 5 calls, we found a place that could have one within the hour. Sweet.

We headed back to the dealership, picked up the truck, and then ran into Petco to get some stuff for the Boys, and then headed to Sierra RV to pick up our parts.

Next was a quick trip to Harbor Freight to buy some cheap tools that would be needed for the job, and then after an unexciting but purpose driven lunch at Blimpie's, we ran into WalMart (no longer hungry mind you) to stock up on some essentials.

We headed back to the campsite, put the groceries away and Bill got to work on replacing the cam. Unfortunately, as we noticed when we inspected the parts at the RV dealer, the cams were not quite the same. The model number was the same, but our replacement cams were SHORTER than our originals. Uh...this is a problem. You would think that adjustments could be made to compensate for the shorter arms...and this would be true if the plate attaching the cams to the trailer frame weren't DRILLED into place. Bill was able to get everything installed, but the weight distribution bars were now obviously too long to sit on the cams properly. Okay, so we don't have the means to drill new holes into the trailer frame...this will require a call to the service department. Fortunately, they had an opening the following morning and told us to come in anytime after 8:00 am. Sweet.

We put everything away...just before a nasty storm rolled in and nearly ripped off our awning as I was hurriedly trying to roll it up. We made it inside before the rain came and spent the rest of the night discussing our plans for the following day.
