(Kim's Perspective)
This bird place better be freaking cool because Boise sucks. Okay, that's unfair...maybe the city is fine...but this RV park is awful. We knew it wouldn't be great based off the description, but when we rolled in to Boise around 6:30 and pulled up to the Mountain View RV Park, I looked at Bill and said "Are you serious? They are packed in there like sardines. Let's find someplace else". Bill, full of prudence, convinced me that it was late, there are few campgrounds/RV parks in the area and we might not be able to find anything else and would be driving around all night. Fine. We got a "spot". It's really more like a sliver. I think there was more room between the units at Beckley's (where we bought the trailer) than here. Oh, and did I mention that it's about 100 yards from the airport runway? Oh, and 20 yards from the interstate.
Around 11:30 last night I kept hearing this Beep, Beep, Beep. What IS that? Thinking it was a Motorhome that was struggling to get into the spot (yes, some of the big rigs have that lovely back-up warning sound) I ignored it - for about 7 minutes. Then I finally realized that there was night construction going on. Joyous.
(Bill's perspective)
We knew it would be bad. We read that it was surrounded by highway and Airport Road. Many reviewers said it was no big deal because if you were inside with the AC on, you couldn't really hear the noise. There is a wall between the highway and the campground to keep some of the noise out. The location is convenient and all we really cared about was electrical hookups so we could leave the boys in relative comfort while we ran to Costo / Wallyworld etc to stock up on supplies. That was all technically correct until it came time to try to lay down. We didn't realize there was construction just a few feet from our site...well, all the sites. We didn't realize they were going to work all night and we didn't realize that planes made that much noise having never tried to sleep under them before. :) Once actual sleepytime came around, we blasted the rain machine, donned the earplugs, put the AC fan on high and were able to address most of the noise. Sleep came. However, the physical layout of the place can not be explained away. It's really tight and the location is really curious. It's a horrible place and I can't imagine much worse but from the reviews, apparently the other places were actually worse. It served the purpose and gave us some perspective on how AWESOME some of the other places we've stayed have been. It will also give us something to laugh about (jet flies overhead) in the future. We opened the door to let the boys go out this morning and there was a dude standing 3 feet away from our door. He was working on his truck. The dogs barked. I wonder why. Today we move on with ZERO regrets. Bye bye Boise. Good luck with your new highway.
