Not much to say for today. It was a travel day from Forks to Nehalem Bay State Park, Oregon.
We stopped by Ruby beach on our way out to find Bill's rock. Long story. Not for you, just for us.
We stopped at the Lewis and Clark National (Historic) Park visitor center around 5:20.
The ranger opened the door and asked if we were with the high school group. Caught off guard and therefore slightly confused by the question, I said "uhhh, no." She replied, "Oh. well, we've already closed for the day but will reopen at 9am tomorrow". I chuckled and said "we're from Maryland - we will never be back". I was disturbed by someone thinking I was with the high school group. I'm not old enough to be some high school kid's parent. Bill pointed out that, yes, indeed I am. We got married right before I turned 21. I am not 21 anymore. Sigh. Aging is depressing. I don't FEEL like I'm getting older. Well, except when I crash my mountain bike. Ha ha ha ha ha. :)
We left and continued on our way. It pretty much rained the whole time. The Oregon coast is pretty. I guess. Hard to see in all the fog.
We got to Nehalem Bay SP and got some info. on the place.
We thought we would continue on to Cape Lookout State Park farther down 101 but when we called to see if they had availability, the ranger told me they were booked solid through the weekend. Bummer. I really wanted to camp there (it's supposedly a great spot for whale watching).
So...we turned back around and found a spot at Nehalem. It was raining and getting dark at this point and this made set up a little challenging. It didn't take long but it was too dark to see where we should park the trailer so it had to be adjusted a couple of times. In our world, that is a fail. If it's backed in once - success, if it's backed in a second time - FAIL. Probably a little too hard on ourselves. :)
We hung out and either read or watched SG1. Who knows. All the dark rainy nights are blending into one another. Man do I miss Stanley. We should have stayed there longer. :(
